Ananda Uma
Yoga Ecovillage
A place for growth of an inner spirit, peace and Love
THE INITIATIVE
Sustainable development and service minded spirituality
It is a Master Unit (MU) of Ananda Marga founded on the principles of sustainable development as enunciated by P.R.Sarkar - the founder of Ananda Marga.
One of the long-term objectives of the MU's is the establishment of self-sufficient Organic Farming model of communities close to Nature. In the future, these units will serve as examples of self-sufficiency and all-round development of the individual and the surrounding communities.
Ananda Marga is a global spiritual and social movement dedicated to self-realization and service to humanity. Started by Shrii Shrii Anandamurti in 1955, Ananda Marga is based on Astaunga Yoga and the ancient science of Tantra Ananda Marga is active in more than 160 countries, where its practitioners teach spiritual practices and lead service and development projects.IDEAL MASTER UNIT
The project is founded on the following 6 primary requisites of an Ideal Sustainable Community:
1. ECONOMIC SELF- RELIANCE: To provide food throughout the year, sufficient local raw materials produced through agriculture and scientific farming. These raw materials will provide the basis for industrial units and agro-industries such as dairy farms, horticulture, sericulture, etc. We focus on cooperative industry to produce the basic necessities of life.
• Production of sufficient fibers and fabrics for clothing.
• General and special medical units: alternative medical treatments.
• Grow, raise, and trade our own food, medicines, and forestry products in an environmentally responsible, bioregional network.
2. SOCIAL EDUCATION: Encourage an atmosphere for spiritual practices, progressive social action, and the practice of healthy lifestyles. Support local and global change through learning, teaching, and networking. Provide primary and post-primary schools that encourage moral principles.
3. ECOLOGY & ENERGY: Afforestation and harvesting rain water, conservation of surface water through a system of ponds, canals, dams, lakes. To use and develop ecologically sound technologies for water, waste, energy, construction, and other essential systems. (solar, wind, biogas, biomass. Small-scale hydroelectric.)
4. ENGAGING WORKPLACES: Industries and agriculture will be run on a cooperative basis. With a more decentralized economy, people will have more direct control over their work and feel more responsible for their jobs. Construct alternative houses for workers and low income family.
5. SPECIAL FEATURES OF A SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITY
• An Ideal farm: integrated farming & Agricultural Training Center
• Flour mill to produce flour
• A bakery
• A seed bank: Cheap Seed Distribution Center.
• A Free Plant Distribution Center
• Sericulture and silk weaving center
• Biogas plants (water hyacinths for producing biogas)
• Apiculture (beekeeping)
• Animal sanctuary. (only bio-fertilizers; cow dung, neem spray, etc.)
• Alternative energy
6. SPECIAL EMERGENCY SURVIVAL PLANTS PROGRAM• They are the minimum items necessary for physical survival.
• Vegetables: People cannot remain healthy without vegetables. One quarter of the land is to be allotted for: wax gourd, bottle gourd, pumpkin, bitter gourd, cucumber, creepers
• Fruits: a vital part of human diet, purifying body, nutritious and medicinal value
• Pulses: black gram, soybean
• Potato: carbohydrates substitute for cereals
• Fodder for dairy cows: sweet potatoes and black gram, are good fodder for animals. One of the best grasses to encourage milk production in cows is napier grasses (pennisetum purpureum)
• Herbs and medicinal plantsA MISSION & PURPOSE:
1. To support local and global change through learning, teaching, and networking.
2. To use and develop ecologically sound technologies for water, waste, energy, construction, and other essential systems.
3. To develop and support a thriving local economy.
4. To grow, raise, and trade our own food, medicines, and forestry products in an environmentally responsible, bioregional network.
5. To encourage an atmosphere in which diverse spiritual practices, conscious connection to all beings, and progressive social action can thrive.

MASTER UNIT: SOLUTIONS TO ALL THE CRISES OF MODERN LIFE
Humanity is now being challenged as never before to grow in wisdom, maturity, and understanding. A plethora of deep and pressing concerns is calling for our immediate attention and concerns;
• Pole Shift
• Earth's environmental degradation, the loss of precious topsoil and forest cover, the loss of habitat and the extinction of species.
• The glaring and increasing disparity between rich and poor leading to exploitation, poverty, and the associated regimen of malnutrition and over-population
• The disintegration of families, communities, even entire cultures
• Unrestrained urbanization resulting in social alienation, displacement
• Global warming and ozone depletion
• Conflict over access to the remaining energy reserves.
• Feelings of disconnection with the natural world
• The dimming of a sense of spiritual awareness and purposeThere are the solutions for the crises and Ananda Uma will be the hope for the future. Through Master Units and sustainable programs, we will elevate the standard of the people.

Future Plan
Global Water Crisis
In the near future there will be a severe crisis in many parts of the world. Many large rivers are already very polluted. People cannot drink this water, and if they even wash their hands in it they can become infected. The only solution is to rely on rainwater. We must collect the rainwater, develop the science of making artificial rain through helium or any other process, and bring the clouds which rain over the ocean onto the land. Constructing more deep tube wells is not the answer.
Rather, we must catch the rainwater where it falls. Many ponds, canals, dams, lakes and reservoirs should be immediately constructed to catch the rainwater and store it for drinking water. This is the only way out of the water crisis that will confront humanity in the very near future.
The inner spirit of our water conservation programs is that the amount of existing surface water should be immediately doubled. But it is preferable if it is increased tenfold. This can best be done by a decentralized approach to water management which increases the depth, the area, or both, of water storage systems. The first step is to increase the depth of those ponds, tanks, dams, lakes, rivers and reservoirs which are already being used for storing water.
The second step is to increase the area of these storage facilities, while the third step is to increase the plantations around them.1.Water resources system
2.Burglary-resisting system
An ecological park needs an anti-theft system, because the animal and plant resources, equipment and natural landscapes in the park are extremely precious and vulnerable. The anti-theft system can effectively prevent criminals from entering the park, avoid the occurrence of theft and destruction, and protect the property and ecological environment in the park. In addition, the anti-theft system can also ensure the safety of visitors and staff, prevent illegal activities from affecting the sustainable development of the park, and maintain the overall operation and ecological balance of the ecological park.
3.Temporary accommodation
The purpose of setting up temporary accommodation is to promote yoga life experience for visitors or volunteers and to support the development and ecological research of the model village. These temporary houses allow visitors to have a comfortable and safe place to spend the night in a natural environment, thereby extending their activity time in the park and experiencing a healthy physical and mental lifestyle. At the same time, they also provide researchers and project volunteers with facilities to facilitate them to complete projects and conduct long-term on-site research and observations.
4. Logo flower garden
It is made by ourselves to represent the ideation of ourmaster unit, with bricks on the periphery and flowers on the foundation.
5.Adobe garden
The use of Adobe to build a garden is of multiple importance. First of all, Adobe is an environmentally friendly material of low energy consumption, usuallymade by local resources, reducing the impact of transportation on the environment. Secondly, the Adobe has good breathability and water retention, which helps the healthy growth of plant roots, and can effectively regulate the soil humidity and promote the growth and development of plants in the garden. In addition, the natural color and texture of the Adobe can be integrated with thenatural landscape of the garden, enhancing its beauty and natural atmosphere, and providing people with a harmonious and comfortableoutdoor space.
